Positano

A leisurely, ten-minute stroll from the centre of Positano lies the small, secluded bay of Fornillo, presided over by the Hotel Pupetto. This family-run hotel is a wonderfully friendly place to stay, and receives consistently high reviews from guests. Bedrooms are simple yet comfortable, and breakfast is included in the hotel’s renowned restaurant, where you can also choose to dine in the evenings if you wish (pay locally).

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Eating Out in Positano

Please be aware that dining in Positano can be expensive especially on the sea front and you may find something friendlier and perhaps more authentic in the little winding streets at the top of the hill.

One restaurant highly recommended by customers is Da Vincenzo, Via Pasitea 172/178 (tel: 0898 75128) – well worth the climb to get there, apparently! We ourselves have not yet had the chance to eat here, and we would be delighted to hear of any other recommendations you have which we can pass on to other customers!

Another recent recommendation is for Lo Guarracino – on the panoramic path Via Positanesi d’America, 12 (between Spiaggia Grande and Spiaggia del Fornillo): “good for lunch or an evening meal away from the masses in Positano”.

Other customers have eaten outside Positano at the following two excellent, reasonably-priced restaurants with simple food and good local wine:

Il Ritrovo in Montepertuso’s main square – catch the bus from Positano. There is a late bus back, or the restaurant provides a free shuttle service.

Trattoria Santa Croce in Nocelle. You pass this restaurant on the walk from Bomerano to Positano. Catch the bus from Positano to Nocelle, which is the terminus. Delicious, home-cooked food and fabulous views over the bay have been reported here.

A customer recommendation for somewhere to celebrate and have a very special (and expensive!) dining experience is La Sponda in Hotel Le Sirenuse. Reservation essential (089 875066).
